Research on nursing and nursing interventions contributes to quality enhancement efforts in healthcare. Most research works are targeted at enhancing the efficiency of care and improving the quality of care. Nursing research informs on strategies that enhance safe patient handling and quality care provision. These researches also inform on novel modalities of care provision that are superior to the already existing modalities. Overall, nursing research widens the scope of nursing practice and identifies safe and effective modalities of nursing intervention (Carter, 2018). Nursing research should, therefore, be encouraged.
The significance of nursing theories in defining concepts in nursing practice underpins their necessity in the nursing discipline. Theoretical frameworks in nursing give insight into nursing care providers and enable a better understanding of valuable nursing concepts in care provision. While grand theories offer broad and abstract insight into practice, practice-level theories are more specific and define nurses’ interventions that ensure the provision of optimal care. With increasing interest in nursing research, empirical findings from these pieces of research will inform other theoretical postulates that will not only broaden the scope of nursing but also enhance its effectiveness in patient management.
